ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Joe LaValle (2017 - Shore Regional)

Joe LaValle was one of Ocean’s top players during his tenure with the Spartans.  While with the team, Joe scored 35 goals and added another 35 assists.  His senior season, Joe finished #2 in points with 32.  Over his high school career, Joe’s contributions and leadership were invaluable.

But his accomplishments in hockey pale in comparison to his life after graduation.  In June of 2017, shortly after graduation, Joe became a United States Marine.  He deployed with “Arthur Company” attached to BLT 2/4 in support of the 13th MEU.  They served in Hawaii, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Philippines and Guam.  Throughout his years in the USMC, Joe helped train troops from their host Nations, detering adversaries on a daily basis both swiftly and peacefully.

After six years of service to our Nation, Joe received his Honorable Discharge on August 8, 2023.  Today, Joe lives in California with his wife Emma and their son William.  His plans for the future, aside from finally being home with his family, includes becoming a State Trooper.
